Allergies

Sneezing, runny nose, itchy and watery eyes can be symptomatic for those suffering from environmental allergies. Facial pain and pressure, tooth pain, and drainage down the back of the throat, can indicate sinus problems. Millions of people suffer from allergies and sinus disease causing individuals to miss work and school. Inflammation from allergies can lead to sinusitis. Many patients benefit from a “dual” approach to their sinus and allergy problems.

Sinus sufferers have generally been miserable for some time. They may have even seen their dentist because of tooth pain. Through minimally invasive techniques many patients find lasting relief with little downtime.

If allergies are the culprit, we offer sublingual immunotherapy: oral drops of allergen extracts that go under the tongue. The allergens are then absorbed by the body, which allows the patient to develop a tolerance toward the allergen.

Immunotherapy

Generally, immunotherapy starts off with exposing the patient to small amounts of the allergen. The allergen amounts are increased over time to “reprogram” your immune system to not react to the allergen. Sublingual immunotherapy is proven to be effective. It is common throughout Europe, South America, and Asia. Sublingual immunotherapy is becoming much more common place in the treatment of environmental allergies in the United States.

Viewed as a “safer” alternative to receiving shots for treating allergies, sublingual immunotherapy is considered safe enough for patients to administer in their own homes under the direction of a physician.
